Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Summer Student will be trained to cover various entry level duties at the Calgary Pipe Plant. This is a great opportunity for an engineering student to learn about pre-cast concrete construction practices.

This position runs for the summer term, from May through August 2026.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure equipment are clean and well maintained
  • Ensure grass and weeds are cut throughout both plants.
  • Clean up garbage and keep the outside break areas clean.
  • Help with set up and cleanup of Team BBQ's.
  • Painting of equipment in various areas of the plants.
  • Must be comfortable working around large equipment and forklifts.
  • Participate and/or conduct daily FLRAs (Field Level Risk Assessments).
  • Ensure that daily preventative maintenance is kept up to date.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Currently enrolled in a University degree or College Diploma program
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 driver's license


Additional Requirements: 

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and organization
  • Must successfully pass a fitness-for-work assessment
  • Proficient in operating lawn mowers and weed trimmers
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
