Position Title: Technology and Engineer Fellow (Fall)
Hourly Rate: $21.00 (Undergraduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
Data Center Operations handles the management and monitoring of the physical plant of the MTAs Data Centers, including HVAC and Power support. Ideal fellows will have a background in engineering and architecture with a goal of certification as an Electrician or Professional Engineer or Architect.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • System testing Support.
  • Drafting/review Standard Operating Procedure documentation for daily operation.
  • Drafting/review of Method of Procedure documentation for system maintenance.
  • Observation and oversight of State of Good Repair work for HVAC and Power.
  • Assist with Building Management System design and review.
  • Assist with Maintenance of HVAC and Power systems.
  • Explore options to optimize tools such as Solar Winds to better manage systems.
  • Cleanout of major site communications rooms.

PROJECTS:
  • Assisting facilities engineering and our operations team in integrating monitoring and alarms into daily system checks.
  • Supporting the review of Uninterruptable Power Supply systems throughout the MTA to evaluate product lifecycle needs.
  • Reviewing plans for upgrade of MTA PD HQ building.
  • Assisting with planned upgrade and consolidation of power and procedure in agency wide data closets.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
  • Knowledge of power systems/equipment.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with Building Architecture.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
  • Major(s) Preferred: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
