Work Schedule

This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in EDT time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

Responsibilities:

  • This individual will be responsible for assessing, gathering and documenting the requirements and specifications of the various laboratory sites
  • Installing and configuring LIS applications to support the lab operations
  • Establishing lab workflows
  • Integrating the LIS application with existing products or equipment
  • Deploying the LIS solution and ensuring production readiness for the laboratory site as well as providing training/support to the end users as needed.
  • This individual will travel extensively to laboratories across the enterprise while working closely with a team of other specialists
  • Laboratory personnel and technical support teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent deployment.
  • The individual will also help define a standard and repeatable implementation process that can be leveraged at scale.
  • The successful completion of this process will reduce the IT footprint within the laboratory operations from many diverse systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory environment or experience supporting and deploying laboratory information systems.
  • 2 or more years of experience with Microsoft Suite.

Additional Job Standards:

  • Ability to work with multiple groups including internal or external teams at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to work on multiple problems, identify/correct production issues, effectively manage and motivate project teams.
  • Experience with managing deadlines and schedules.
  • Strong client and customer relationship focus with the proven ability to build and develop those effective working relationships.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic, a self-starter.
  • Must be able to provide 24/7 product support on a rotating basis as needed.
  • Must be able to travel 60-75% to implement LIS systems across the enterprise.
  • Microsoft Visio or Lucid flowchart experience.

The LIS Implementation Specialist position will help define, configure, deploy, and support Laboratory Information Management Systems and products to be used by multiple specialty and core laboratory departments.
