Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registration Specialist to join our team. In this crucial role, you will ensure patient data from healthcare provider lab order requisitions is entered accurately and efficiently before patient specimens reach the core laboratory for testing. Your attention to detail and adherence to established procedures will help maintain our high-quality standards.
Location & Compensation:
  • Internal Applicants: Remote eligible; compensation based on experience (DOE)
  • External Applicants: Onsite in Pendleton; starting wage $18.50 per hour

Schedule: Part-time (Mon, Wed, Fri 8pm - 4:30am)

What You'll Do:
  • Accurately utilize the online Patient Registration system to enter patient data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Actively participate in Quality Assurance monitoring activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the registration process.
  • Accurately translate physician orders and diagnoses from requisition forms into the LIS.
  • Follow established work checklists and procedures to ensure all tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA policies and procedures to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Understand and follow Medicare guidelines, including regulations related to Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN).
  • Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Education & Certification:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:
  • Previous specimen processing experience (preferred, but not required)

Skills & Competencies:
  • Ability to learn and effectively use Interpath Laboratory's internal registration system (training will be provided)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Comfortable using computers and laboratory applications
  • Ability to adhere to established procedures and guidelines to maintain a high standard of work

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, or bending to retrieve files or office supplies.
  • Utilizes keyboard throughout entire shift, performing data entry.
  • Ability to see medical documentation on a computer screen in order to accurately enter data.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for occasional office tasks (e.g., handling paperwork or equipment).

OSHA Category: This position may occasionally perform tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
