Overview

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is seeking a International Alumni Relations Program Intern to work 15-20 hours a week for the 2022-2023 academic year. This intern will assist with program planning and communications under the International Alumni Relations area. Responsibilities include a variety of tasks related to market research and data analysis, event planning and communications. Knowledge of social media platforms such as WeChat is a desirable in addition to strong command of Mandarin Chinese. This intern position will be a combination of remote, in-office, and on-site work environments.

In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Association® to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. Responsibilities
Market Research & Data Analysis:
  • Perform various research searches using various search engines and business research tools
  • Compile data in spreadsheets for analysis
  • Draft reports and executive summaries
  • Perform analysis of program metrics
  • Perform data entry tasks
  • Understand program objectives to conduct research that will increase alumni engagement
  • Maintain tracking report of program activity

Marketing & Communication:
  • Assist in deploying social media tactics for international alumni
  • Draft correspondence to various international alumni audiences
  • Create social media posts
  • Create PowerPoint presentations

Event Assistance:
  • Assist with coordinating campus events (in-person and virtual) for international alumni and at times students
  • Propose ideas to improve event quality
  • Research market, identify event opportunities and generate interest
  • Create and distribute event listing pages on social media websites

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary degree program.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms; digital marketing trends and techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office

Other Qualifications:
  • Strong writing skills
  • Competency in a second language, preferably Mandarin Chinese and/or have cultural fluency in understanding and accepting other cultures.
  • Research acumen
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Strong market research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a small team environment
  • Disciplined self-starter who regularly sets and achieves work goal
