Overview

BrightSpring Health Service is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our team on a year-round basis. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented and motivated accounting student eager to gain practical experience in a dynamic corporate accounting environment. The intern will support the Corporate Accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and participating in the monthly close process.


The intern will also assist with managing billing and cost reports for the Department of Labor, analyzing financial data, supporting external audits, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal policies. This hands-on role offers exposure to Oracle Fusion and capital expenditure processes, providing a well-rounded foundation in corporate finance.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and support monthly accounting activities to ensure timely ledger close
  • Reconcile accounts and perform trend and completeness analysis
  • Assist with corporate balance sheet accounts and conduct analytical reviews of monthly activity
  • Help maintain and organize digital and physical financial records
  • Research and respond to inquiries involving general ledger accounts
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual external audit
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and spreadsheets for internal use
  • Perform daily and monthly accounting functions, including fixed asset subledger transactions in Oracle Fusion
  • Prepare and review Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for compliance with company procedures
  • Process capital purchase orders and manage invoicing and payments related to capital expenditures in Oracle Fusion
  • Reconcile discrepancies with vendors and accounts payable
  • Act as a resource for operational teams in resolving outstanding CERs and purchase order issues
  • Support special projects and perform additional administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university
Majoring in Accounting or a related field
Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Completion of introductory accounting courses required
No prior work experience necessary, though basic knowledge of accounting principles is expected
Familiarity with accounting software such as Oracle Fusion, QuickBooks, or Xero is a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Solid analytical and mathematical skills
Ability to interpret and work with technical financial documentation
Capable of maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information
Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Comfortable adapting to new tools and technologies in a fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
