Job description

Title: Head Crew Coach
Reports To: Athletic Directory
Status & Classification: Full-Time, Salary, Exempt
Jesuit Dallas is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Head Crew Coach to lead and grow one of the premier high school rowing programs in the region. With a roster of 50+ dedicated student-athletes and access to world-class facilities, including an indoor rowing tank, a fully equipped erg training room, and a fleet of boats housed at the White Rock Boathouse, this is an exceptional opportunity to build a nationally competitive program.
The Head Crew Coach will oversee all aspects of the rowing program, including athlete development, training design, competition planning, and program culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about competing at the highest levels while remaining deeply committed to forming the whole person in alignment with Jesuit Ignatian educational values.
Essential Functions
  • Design and implement a comprehensive training program for novice and varsity athletes
  • Develop and maintain a competitive schedule with the goal of national-level success
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and personal growth
  • Mentor student-athletes in alignment with Ignatian principles, emphasizing character, leadership, and service
  • Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and parents to support the overall student-athlete experience
  • Oversee assistant coaches and support staff
  • Manage the program budget, including financial planning and coordination for out-of-state travel
  • Ensure proper care and use of equipment and facilities
  • Foster positive, proactive relationships with parents through consistent communication, transparency, & professionalism
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the athletic program and parents

Qualifications
  • Prior coaching experience in rowing, preferably at the high school, collegiate, or club level
  • Strong understanding of training methodologies and athlete development
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Commitment to the mission of Jesuit education and the development of young men
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move equipment for extended periods during practices, regattas, and other activities
  • Ability to lift and carry rowing equipment, including shells, oars ergometers, and related gear
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and direct sunlight
  • Ability to travel with the team to practices, regattas, and other team functions
  • Position requires early morning, evening, weekend, holiday, and occasional overnight work associated with practices and regattas
  • Requires maintaining a safe environment around boats, docks, launches, trailers, and training equipment
  • Works in a stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
