Intern projects are decided by the Software Development Manager based on need. Interns typically work on our core libraries and existing apps, such as the Assessor Treasurer's Information Portal (ATIP), Planning and Public Works (PALS+), and the Legal Information Network eXchange (LINX). The skillset gained during the internship allows our students to enhance their resumes and enter the career market with full stack experience.

How to be successful in the role: A successful intern will have exposure and coursework in JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and code repositories like Bitbucket and GitHub as well as awareness of Agile methodologies. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a desire to help and support co-workers will be key. Training is primarily "on the job", and you will be assigned an onboarding partner as your main "go-to person" for learning processes and procedures.

Our internship provides an initial training program to ensure a base level understanding of languages and applications as well as access to established procedures, standards, practices, and system documentation. Through out the training process you will meet with your supervisor regularly to facilitate your success in meeting your professional goals. This position has multiple career growth and promotional opportunities in Pierce County to build on a great career while directly impacting the communities in Pierce County. Core daily responsibilities: Programming in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Java/Groovy and writing tests. Using Git and Jira in an Agile environment.

Reporting status at standups and sprint planning meetings. Minimum Qualifications Final year of education or recent graduate of a Bachelor's program. 2 years of experience in Java / JavaScript or related language.
