An Intern Forestry job involves assisting professional foresters in managing and conserving forests, wildlife habitats, and natural resources. Interns may conduct tree inventories, assist with reforestation projects, collect ecological data, and support forest management plans. They often work outdoors in various weather conditions and may collaborate with government agencies, private landowners, or conservation organizations. This role provides hands-on experience in forestry practices and environmental stewardship, preparing interns for future careers in forestry or natural resource management.

What does an intern forestry do?

As an Intern Forestry, your days are often split between outdoor fieldwork and office-based tasks. In the field, you may help conduct tree inventories, collect and analyze soil or water samples, assist with habitat assessments, and support forest management or research activities under supervision. Office tasks often include data entry, map creation using GIS tools, and assisting with research documentation. You'll typically work alongside experienced foresters, biologists, or environmental scientists, providing valuable support while gaining hands-on experience and mentorship. This structure gives you a thorough understanding of the profession and helps prepare you for potential full-time roles in forestry.
