We are looking for a passionate and mission-focused Software Engineer Supporting the AERO team, taking FAA and public air traffic control data to give to the Customer in different environments. Currently supporting Notices to Airmen (NOTAM). This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting initiative at NGA, where modern software development practices are being used to address critical mission challenges for the agency and its users. You will be working with a modern technology stack, rapidly developing intelligence analysis products, and contributing to a culture of innovation. We seek candidates who are energized by modern architectures and eager to solve challenging client problems.


Required Skills:

  • BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent technical degree.

  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering/development, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.

  • Experience in Python enterprise application development

  • Experience building high performance applications in React.js

  • Foundational knowledge of Node.js

  • Web services architecture, design, and development

  • Experience with Databases to include

    • Relational database design

    • Spatial database design

    • NoSQL database design

  • Micro-service architecture, design and development

  • Experience working in AWS and utilizing specific AWS tooling (S3)


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Spring applications

  • Experience as a full stack developer to include Web Services, Database and Front-End Development

  • Experience working with and developing geospatial information systems (GIS) to include open-source and proprietary geospatial formats
