This newly created leadership role is designed for an engineering professional who combines strong electrical and automation expertise with proven experience leading technical teams in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will drive reliability improvements, support digital transformation initiatives, and provide technical leadership to automation, controls, and reliability personnel.

This is not a hands-on troubleshooting position. Instead, we're looking for a leader who can develop people, guide technical decision-making, drive continuous improvement, and establish credibility with highly skilled engineers and technicians.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Development

  • Drive employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning.

Electrical, Controls & Automation Leadership

  • Provide oversight for industrial electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, drives, and control systems.
  • Lead automation initiatives that improve safety, productivity, and equipment performance.
  • Establish best practices and standards for automation and controls systems.
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to support troubleshooting and long-term improvements.

Reliability Excellence

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) initiatives.
  • Drive defect elimination efforts focused on reducing recurring failures and improving asset performance.
  • Identify and address equipment "bad actors" through data-driven reliability strategies.
  • Improve equipment uptime, asset utilization, and maintenance effectiveness.

Asset Management & Maintenance Systems

  • Support and optimize CMMS and asset management systems.
  • Improve asset master data, spare parts management, and maintenance workflows.
  • Develop KPI dashboards and performance metrics to drive decision making.
  • Enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Continuous Improvement & Digital Transformation

  • Partner with engineering, operations, and digital teams to implement advanced technologies.
  • Support predictive analytics, machine learning, and automation initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on operational excellence and manufacturing performance.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience within industrial manufacturing, maintenance, reliability, automation, or engineering leadership roles.
  • Experience managing technical, engineering, maintenance, or automation teams.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electrical systems
    • Automation and controls
    • PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

    • Reliability methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in metals, steel, chemicals, paper, mining, building materials, power generation, or other heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Experience implementing or managing CMMS/EAM systems.
