Mechanical Reliability Engineer Drive Reliability. Power Performance. Build What Matters.

At DuPont, we’re solving some of the world’s most complex challenges through advanced materials and innovation. Our Cooper River site—situated along the scenic banks of the Cooper River—is a critical manufacturing hub supporting industries from aerospace to automotive.

We’re looking for a Mechanical & Reliability Engineer who thrives in a hands‑on environment and is passionate about improving equipment performance, plant reliability, and operational excellence.

Why This Role Matters

You will play a key role in maximizing equipment reliability and plant performance, directly impacting our ability to meet customer commitments and business goals. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll partner with process, electrical, and automation engineers to solve complex challenges and drive continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do
  • Own equipment reliability: Provide day‑to‑day mechanical engineering support across plant systems and infrastructure
  • Lead and support capital projects: Define scope, drive front‑end loading, and execute minor to mid‑size capital improvements, while contributing to major projects
  • Drive reliability programs: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Solve root causes at scale: Lead Root Cause Investigations (RCFA) and apply structured problem‑solving tools (FMEA, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Improve plant performance: Identify and implement solutions to eliminate equipment downtime and improve availability
  • Leverage data for impact: Analyze performance trends and validate corrective actions to ensure sustainable improvements
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to deliver business results
  • Enable workforce capability: Train operators and mechanics to strengthen reliability practices across the site
What You Bring
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in manufacturing, reliability, or mechanical engineering roles
  • Strong knowledge of equipment design, selection, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and equipment diagrams
  • Experience with PSM (Process Safety Management) and a strong safety‑first mindset
  • Hands‑on experience with reliability tools such as FMEA, RCFA, Six Sigma
  • Preferred: Machine safety experience
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, influence, and collaborate across functions
  • Strong communication skills and a high level of ownership and attention to detail
What Sets This Role Apart
  • High‑impact visibility: Direct influence on plant reliability and business performance
  • Cross‑functional exposure: Work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Growth opportunity: Lead projects and expand your expertise in reliability and capital execution
  • Purpose‑driven work: Help deliver critical materials that power industries worldwide
Ready to Make an Impact?

If you’re a problem‑solver with a passion for reliability and continuous improvement, we’d love to connect.
