As a Principal Product Validation & Reliability Engineer on JLG's Global Product Development team, you will have the unique responsibility for the interpretation, planning, and execution of product validation, Reliability, Regulatory, and Functional Safety activities for JLG Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and Telescopic Material Handlers (TMHs). You will fill a critical role on the team due to your experience and expertise in testing and validating complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems, component & system validation, hazard identification & risk assessments, safety system analysis, and machine controls.

YOUR IMPACT

  • You will review and provide input to Engineering Systems, Design, Test, and Software documentation consistent with project phase; this would include requirements development, design and performance verification, and test plan development

  • You will enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and internal Reliability & Safety standards, and you will ensure the program defines and collects evidence in meeting the established Reliability & Safety requirements

  • You will participate in the development of test procedures to assure Reliability & Safety requirements are met

  • You will collect and analyze field duty cycle data as an input to validation activities

  • You will assess safety hazards, regulatory impact, reliability characteristics, and associated tradeoffs of machine components and subsystems, to include vehicle layouts, block diagrams, bills of material, and drawings/schematics of components and assemblies

  • You will conduct and document risk assessment studies and analysis of changes/issues affecting Safety/Compliance/Reliability

  • You will perform analysis of Safety Related Parts of Control Systems per EN 13849-1 and IEC 62061

  • You will construct and submit Technical Construction Files for European and Australian product certification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • 8plus years of RMMR (Reliability, Maintenance & Managing Risk) experience

STANDOUT QUALIFICAQTIONS

  • Possess a strong mechanical knowledge of construction/mobile machinery vehicles and related systems

  • Good working knowledge of electronic and hydraulic machine control systems

  • Familiarity with component/system/software/hardware design, verification, and validation processes

  • Proficient in performing Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessment, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, etc.

  • Knowledge of applying EN ISO 13849 and IEC/EN 62061 to Safety System Analysis

  • Familiarity with hazard identification and risk assessment based on EN ISO 12100

  • Experience with:

    • EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC & Machinery Regulation MR1230/2023

    • Global MEWP Stds - ANSI 92.20, EN280-1, CSA B354.6, AS/NZS 1418.10

    • Global TMH Stds - B56.6, EN1459-1, AS 10896.1

  • Able to travel in support of jobsite visits and customer meetings

Pay Range:

$82,900.00 - $134,300.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
