Electrical Engineering Intern | Naperville, IL

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring a Electrical Engineering Intern in Naperville, IL. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for the vertical building industry while working closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on real project work.

This internship supports work within project budgets and cross-functional collaboration to help meet project goals and client expectations. You'll also contribute to documentation, coordination, final-check preparation, addenda, and periodic job site observations while supporting projects across education, government, and healthcare settings.

What You'll Do

Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards

Assist with researching commercially available equipment

Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files

Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers

Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress

Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check

Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information

Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement

Education

Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

Experience

Required Skills/Abilities

Strong interest in design consulting

Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) software

Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Salary:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour.
