Job description

Narrative Nonfiction Writing Intern(PAID)

Our company is overseeing the development of a narrative nonfiction book exploring synchronicity, consciousness, intuition, spirituality, flow state, and personal growth through real-life experiences.

Weโ€™re looking for a strong emerging writer who can take author voice-to-text interviews, transcripts, raw notes, recorded stories, and curated chapter briefs and develop them into engaging narrative nonfiction while preserving the authorโ€™s natural voice and perspective.

This is not a traditional blog-writing position. The selected writer will gain hands-on experience with long-form book development, collaborative/ghostwriting workflows, author interviews, transcript-to-prose development, developmental editing, and the book proposal/publishing process.

Ideal candidates have strong storytelling and creative writing skills and are comfortable writing from another personโ€™s experiences without inventing unsupported details. Students or recent graduates in Creative Writing, English, Journalism, Communications, Professional Writing, Publishing, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Professional ghostwriting experience is not required.

Generative AI may not be used to draft, rewrite, paraphrase, or generate prose for writing assignments or the finalist writing assessment.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants should submit a short introduction, relevant writing background or area of study, and 1โ€“3 writing samples.

A small group of finalists will be invited to complete the same short, unpaid pre-employment writing exercise using author-provided source material. The exercise will be approximately 400โ€“600 words and should take no more than 60โ€“90 minutes.

The exercise is solely for evaluating writing ability and fit. Submissions will not be published, sold, incorporated into the book, or otherwise used commercially. Candidates retain ownership of their test submission.

PAID BOOK ASSIGNMENT

The strongest candidate will be offered a paid Chapter 1 trial assignment.

The writer will receive a curated source packet containing original author notes, fresh voice-to-text interviews, relevant recordings, chapter objectives, and contextual information. The goal is to create fresh, human-written book prose from those materials.

If Chapter 1 is successful, the writer may be offered two additional paid sample chapters, with the possibility of further book-development and book-proposal work.

The selected writer will work through Digital Storm SEO and may list the professional writing/editorial experience with the company on their rรฉsumรฉ. College internship credit may also be available when approved by the studentโ€™s academic program.

Confidentiality and intellectual-property agreements will be completed before paid book work begins.
