Job Summary:
The Structural Drafter will be responsible for preparing 2D drawings for the design of complex offshore/onshore structural systems utilizing CAD software. The entry level Structural Drafter will perform their job duties under appropriate guidance and supervision of experienced staff, typical the Group Leader.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare 2D drawings for assigned projects from sketches or SACs model output files and/or verbal instructions;
• Work with Lead on technical details and specify dimensions, materials;
• Work with Lead to draft Skids/Modules structural, from concept through AFC;
• Work with Lead to draft Onshore/Offshore structures, from concept through AFC;
• Draft multi-discipline supports details, from concept through AFC;
• Edit drawings and incorporate changes from provided markups and/or verbal instructions;
• Assist engineers and designers in resolving design issues on the drawings
• Interact with design team for resolving drafting/design related issues;
• Ensure that all drawings adhere to Client, Industry and Company Standards;
• Maintain project files and folders and follow company standards;
• Responsible for informing discipline leads on any and all concerns relating to their respective assignments;
• Be part of a team to perform field work as required to obtain accurate information and create sketches for the design of the project (duration determined by the project requirements and project management).
Basic or Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
• Requires current enrollment in an accredited drafting certificate or degree program;
• Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of design software i.e. (AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Navisworks) preferred;
• Basic knowledge of AISC, AWS, API, RP, 2A, and OSHA standards required;
• Basic knowledge of AISC steel members and AWS weld symbols required;
• Ability and availability to work occasional overtime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements;
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

  • Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
