Basic Job Functions:
The Tool Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing tooling, manufacturing processes, part progressions, and detailed tooling drawings required to produce fasteners that meet customer print specifications and industry standards. This role will also support the identification and implementation of process improvements aimed at increasing production rates, extending tooling life, and enhancing part quality. This position will work closely with the Forming, Tooling, and Wire Processing departments to ensure optimal tool performance and consistent quality.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Two (2) years' experience with 3D design software, i.e. SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of nut/bolt cold forming principles
  • Experience in tool design, mechanical design, or a related manufacturing engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with tooling, dies, fixtures, or cold-forming processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
