Your New Role...

CNN's Video Editorial team creates original video for every CNN platform. We write, produce, shoot and edit in close collaboration across the organization, with a special focus on vertical video, covering breaking news, trending topics and the issues that matter most.Fromthe day's biggest headlinestothestoriesdriving conversation, weaimto inform and engagethe largest global digital audience in news today.
The daily news producer is responsible for pitching and producing video news stories that will resonate with CNN's digital audience. They will monitor the news of the day, pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, edit video in-house, and film with reporters at the office and, on occasion, in the field. They will think of sharp angles and creative ways to explain the news.

The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and enjoys the challenge of short-form editing. They are a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help at a moment's notice. They should have extensive experience working independently, writing scripts and editing projects in Adobe Premiere. They can assess the news value of a story and use data to predict audience interest. A love of news and creative mindset are a must, along with an ability to navigate a large deadline-driven organization.

Your Role Accountabilities:

  • Researching, writing scripts and editing video for all digital platforms

  • Finding sharp angles on news stories

  • Monitoring breaking news, live events and search/social trends

  • Brainstorming and regularly generating story ideas

  • Shooting video in-office/studio and occasionally working with reporters in the field on breaking news and news enterprise stories

  • Experimenting with new video formats on multiple platforms; finding ways to creatively show and explain the news

  • Coordinating with colleagues in CNN bureaus around the world

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of working at a major media outlet, or equivalent experience

  • Deep understanding of digital video and social media platforms; experience with vertical video preferred

  • Experience fact-checking stories and conducting interviews

  • Passion for breaking news and current events

  • Skilled with post-production software Adobe Premiere

  • Familiarity with filming interviews and broll sequences

  • Track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environment

  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require

  • Foreign language skills a plus

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $68,460.00 - $127,140.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
