Job description

Job#: 3042861
Job Description:
Cloud Database Platform Engineer (AWS CDK & Automation)
We're seeking a hands-on Cloud Database Reliability Engineer to help modernize and automate database operations supporting large-scale enterprise applications running in AWS. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building solutions through code, eliminating manual processes, and creating scalable infrastructure that improves reliability across critical systems.
You'll work closely with database, engineering, and platform teams to build automation frameworks, infrastructure pipelines, and self-service capabilities that support modern cloud database environments.
What You'll Be Doing
This position focuses heavily on automation and Infrastructure-as-Code rather than traditional database administration. The engineer selected will help transform manual operational tasks into repeatable, scalable solutions.
Key initiatives include:
  • Developing AWS-based infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies
  • Creating and maintaining database automation pipelines
  • Automating activities such as patching, backups, refreshes, lifecycle management, and database maintenance
  • Building GitLab CI/CD workflows to support database operations
  • Improving operational efficiency through scripting and automation
  • Supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL environments hosted on Amazon RDS
  • Collaborating within an Agile delivery team using modern development practices
What Makes Someone Successful Here
The strongest candidates are engineers first and database professionals second. We're looking for someone who enjoys writing code, building automation, and solving operational challenges at scale.
Required Experience
  • Professional experience supporting AWS-hosted database environments
  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code background using AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation
  • Experience building automation using TypeScript, Python, or similar scripting languages
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, or both in production environments
  • CI/CD experience, preferably using GitLab
  • Ability to design solutions that reduce manual effort and improve platform reliability
Preferred Experience
  • AWS CDK expertise (highly desired)
  • TypeScript development experience
  • AWS Lambda automation
  • Cloud security and IAM concepts
  • Monitoring, observability, or operational tooling experience
  • Experience working within Agile or SAFe environments
Candidate Profile
This role is not a fit for candidates whose experience is primarily:
  • Traditional on-premises database administration
  • Database support performed mainly through GUI tools or console access
  • Operational support without automation or scripting responsibility

We are specifically interested in engineers who have built tooling, automated workflows, and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions in production cloud environments.
