What is the difference between Intern Class B Tanker Driver vs Class B CDL Driver?

AspectIntern Class B Tanker DriverClass B CDL Driver
CredentialsTemporary internship, may require learner's permitCommercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
Work EnvironmentTraining sites, tankers, and delivery routesVarious delivery and transportation settings
Industry UsageSpecific to tanker operations, often in trainingBroader, including general freight, passenger, and tanker

Intern Class B Tanker Drivers are typically in training, focusing on gaining experience with tanker operations under supervision. In contrast, Class B CDL Drivers are fully licensed professionals qualified to operate a wider range of vehicles, including tankers. The main difference lies in certification level and experience, with interns still developing skills and licensed drivers authorized for independent operation.

How to become an Intern Class B Tanker Driver with no experience?

To become an Intern Class B Tanker Driver with no experience, candidates typically need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a tanker endorsement, which requires passing written and skills tests. Gaining experience through entry-level driving jobs and completing safety training can improve prospects, as employers often prefer candidates with some driving background and knowledge of safety protocols related to transporting liquids in tankers.

Is being an Intern Class B Tanker Driver worth it?

Intern Class B Tanker Drivers typically earn entry-level wages and gain valuable experience in transporting liquids, often requiring a commercial driver's license (CDL) and safety training. The role can lead to higher-paying positions with more responsibility, but it may involve long hours and safety risks associated with handling hazardous materials.
