Job description

As a Civil Engineering Intern II, you will spend your summer in either our Development or Public Works segment focusing on in-depth design and drafting for private development or city development projects. As a member of our project teams, you will work hands-on alongside licensed engineers, support active projects, and gain exposure to the full lifecycle of civil engineering design and delivery. You will be assigned a personal mentor to help support your development and guide you through projects. Our interns also take part in our AEC Intern Rotation Program. Interns will rotate with other firms and their interns in the KC Metro to gain an understanding of how companies work together to complete projects from start to finish.

Essential Functions

•    Support civil site design projects through design, drafting, and technical analysis
•    Assist with the execution of project design processes and preparation of documents per client and regulatory requirements
•    Design portions of projects under supervision while meeting established work plans and schedules
•    Provide AutoCAD drafting and design support to meet project objectives and deadlines
•    Research applicable codes, regulations, and site requirements
•    Assist with environmental impact reports and other documentation required for project permits
•    Demonstrate initiative by identifying potential issues, proposing and implementing solutions
•    Participate in project site visits and field observations as needed
•    Opportunities to interact directly with company leadership and learn about the industry 
•    Participate in team-building activities, fundraising opportunities, and company-wide events
•    Interns will complete an industry-relevant research project and present findings to company leadership

Experience

•    Prior internship experience required 
•    Some experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
•    Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•    Ability to learn new software quickly

•    Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering undergraduate program
