Designer III's will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs. Designer III's will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: Staunton, VA - Hybrid, 3-4 days in office
Your Responsibilities:
  • Create engineering documentation including Solidworks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards.
  • Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
  • Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules.
  • Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
  • Complete work assignments within determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals.
  • Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic.
  • Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams.

Your Qualifications:
  • Vocational or Technical Degree in Design/Drafting or Equivalent Experience
  • 4-6 years related design experience
  • Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired.
  • Ability to travel (10% or less of the time)
