Job description

At InterVenn, our technology enables and empowers the understanding of glycoproteomics, a new clinical layer of biology beyond the genome, using a simple blood draw. InterVenn's powerful solutions will broaden humankind's perception and interpretation of diseases like cancer. The Director of Business Development will have the opportunity to shape and deliver on our partnership strategy, and will be responsible for cultivating, securing and managing alliances to drive commercialization of InterVenn's technology. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be working closely with the commercial, research and development, and data science teams to identify and promote applications for our technology and find ways to partner with industry to accelerate development of products and solutions. This role requires a highly independent professional with significant biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry exposure and strong commercial instincts. The successful candidate will manage the entire business development lifecycle, from lead generation to contract negotiation and strategic account development. This is an onsite position in our South San Francisco, California office. Occasional local travel to partnership sites.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSABILITIES

Strategic Growth: Develop and implement strategies to expand the company's business, including identifying opportunities for collaboration.

  • Develop and nurture a network of pharmaceutical/biotechnology/life sciences potential partnerships.
  • Monitor competitor activities and regional biotech developments to support commercial strategy.
  • Work with senior leadership to refine business development and partnership strategy, taking into account capability requirements, organizational resources, and fit with overall corporate mission.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline records, forecasts, and account documentation.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities and results to the senior leadership team.

Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams from management to data science, research and operations to capitalize on opportunities that expand the company's reach, revenue, and market position.

  • Translate customer insights into actionable growth strategies.
  • Align internal teams on roadmap priorities that reflect real customer demand.
  • Participate in the development of marketing collateral, white papers, and thought leadership that highlights InterVenn's capabilities.

Partnership Development: Form strategic partnerships with other companies, research institutions, and stakeholders, including negotiating contracts and managing relationships to foster collaboration.

  • Lead partnership discussions, negotiations, and manage execution of agreements.
  • Conduct client visits, industry networking, and conference participation to strengthen market visibility and expand strategic relationships.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:.

  • Master's/MBA or equivalent practical experience in the life science, medical, engineering, or data science field; PhD, PharmD or MD highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years experience of Business Development in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life sciences industries.
  • Strong understanding of the diagnostic testing market.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to analyze market trends, assess business opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience operating independently in high-ownership, client-facing business development roles.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements with multiple stakeholders.
