A ten-week paid summer internship at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in Moss Landing, California, open to undergraduate and graduate students as well as educators. Each intern is paired with an MBARI scientist, engineer or communicator and works on a defined research, engineering or outreach project with access to research vessels, remotely operated vehicles and autonomous underwater vehicles. The 2026 round paid $23 per hour and MBARI assists with housing for participants coming from outside the area; the programme is supported by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
