Intern Associate information

What does an intern associate do?

An Intern Associate is typically a temporary, entry-level position designed for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in a professional environment. Their responsibilities often include supporting teams with daily tasks, conducting research, assisting with projects, and learning industry-specific skills under supervision. This role helps interns build their resumes, develop professional networks, and gain insight into potential career paths. The specific duties can vary depending on the industry and company. Overall, it is an opportunity for hands-on learning and professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an intern associate?

To thrive as an Intern Associate, you need a foundational understanding of the relevant industry, strong organizational skills, and typically current enrollment in or recent completion of a related academic program. Familiarity with productivity tools like Microsoft Office Suite, collaboration platforms, and sometimes project management software is often expected. Effective communication, eagerness to learn, and adaptability are standout soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are important because they enable you to contribute meaningfully, learn quickly, and work well within a professional team environment.

What types of projects or tasks can an intern associate typically expect to work on, and how is mentorship provided throughout the internship?

As an Intern Associate, you can expect to be assigned a variety of entry-level tasks and projects that support your team’s daily operations, such as conducting research, preparing reports, assisting with data analysis, or participating in team meetings. Most organizations pair interns with a supervisor or mentor who provides guidance, feedback, and regular check-ins to help navigate challenges and ensure professional development. This hands-on learning approach helps you gain practical skills, understand workflow processes, and build relationships within the company. Additionally, you may have opportunities to collaborate with other interns or cross-functional teams, which further enriches your learning experience.

What is the difference between Intern Associate vs Intern Coordinator?

Job description

Do you love using words to captivate, inform, and inspire action? Can you seamlessly adapt your writing style to different formats and audiences? How about a knack for the occasional pun? If so, we want to meet you! The Dog & Cat Business Unit within Central Garden & Pet is seeking a Content Writer Intern to join our Content Team in Neptune City, NJ.

You’ll create content that elevates our brands and resonates with consumers across various touchpoints. This is an exciting opportunity to dive into the creative-meets-strategic world of content creation—crafting everything from website articles and social media posts to packaging copy, emails, press releases, and beyond.

Ideally, you’re a wordsmith with demonstrated content creation and copyediting skills. You can easily pivot style and tone for the brand and channel, and you’re comfortable working both independently and in a team setting. You will report to the Associate Director, Content Business Strategy in the Creative Department.

This position is based out of our Neptune City, Nj facility 5x a week.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:

  • Adhere to style guidelines to create content in each brand’s unique voice, tone, and format.
  • Effectively manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Regularly contribute fresh and creative content concepts/ideas.

  • Write and optimize website/e-commerce content for traditional SEO and emerging Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) best practices.
  • Integrate AI tools into your drafting and editing workflow to support, not replace, your own writing and editorial judgment as you move from first draft to final copy.
  • Stay curious about new AI tools and techniques, experimenting with what works best for different content types and sharing learnings with the team.
  • Conduct keyword research for search engine optimization on both search results and e-commerce platforms.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
  • Published writing samples or a link to an online portfolio are required for consideration
  • 2-3 years of experience writing content either in-house or an agency setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Proven writer and proofreader with professional written and verbal skills
  • Ability to adapt tone and writing style based on medium and audience
  • Can prioritize multiple types of projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with e-commerce product content
  • Understanding of SEO/AEO/GEO best practices is preferred
  • Experience with keyword research tools such as SEM Rush is preferred
