What does an intern apparel product developer do?

An Intern Apparel Product Developer assists in the creation and development of clothing products from concept to final production. Their responsibilities typically include researching fashion trends, selecting materials, helping with technical specifications, collaborating with designers, and supporting fitting sessions. Interns gain hands-on experience in the product development process and learn about the workflow in the fashion industry. They work closely with senior developers and other teams to ensure designs are both innovative and feasible for manufacturing.

As an Intern Apparel Product Developer, you'll typically assist in tasks such as researching fashion trends, preparing technical sketches, and creating tech packs for new apparel designs. You may also support the team in sourcing materials, coordinating with vendors, and participating in fittings or sample reviews. Interns often work closely with designers, merchandisers, and production teams, gaining hands-on experience with each stage of the product development process. This role provides a valuable overview of how concepts become finished garments, and offers opportunities to build both creative and technical skills in a collaborative environment.
