Job description

Urban Planner(s) (full-time, multiple openings) needed in New York, New York to develop strong, creative and innovative design concepts on a broad range of large-scale projects that include the planning and design of mixed-use developments, office and higher education campuses, residential neighborhoods, as well as public realm planning and urban transportation concepts and systems. Develop, collaborate, and advance conceptual and schematic designs on urban design and master planning projects. Provide urban planning expertise by considering the interactions of people and buildings in the built urban environment and public realm in various facets from spatial analytics, space planning and programming, neighborhood planning, transportation planning, mixed-use planning, landscape design, placemaking and others, all while considering regulatory frameworks such as zoning and building codes. Conduct geo-spatial research and analysis, conduct public outreach and engagement activities, interview clients, collect, and review location-specific regulatory, environmental, and climatic constraints on the campus, neighborhood and city scale. Prepare planning studies that reflect a given development program. Gather community feedback to make sure that issues and challenges raised by the community during initial public outreach are addressed. Contribute to developing strong, creative and innovative planning and design concepts on a broad range of urban design and master planning projects including transit-oriented development, large-scale urban infill development, mixed-use development, community and neighborhood master planning, district and citywide master planning, new communities, campus planning for education, medical, and general institutions and suburban master planning. Prepare planning documents, including master plans, strategic plans, diagrams, renderings, design standards, and other planning studies.
Must have a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, or related field, plus two (2) years of design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) with all of the following:
(1) ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Grasshopper, 2D and 3D Software including AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and Bluebeam Revu;
(2) Parametric design application to master planning projects as well as conceptual and schematics design for architecture and urban design projects;
(3) Building codes, standards, zoning, and land use planning for residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, critical facilities campuses, airport and airport cities master plans, sports-anchored campus master plans, and mixed-use developments;
(4) Physical design practices including site planning and programming, building layout, development yields, massing, materials and conceptual architectural design;
(5) Lighting, Façade, Acoustics, AV, mobility, transportation, landscape, civil and marine engineers, and other consultants' coordination requirements; AND
(6) Sustainable design principles, including green infrastructure, renewable energy systems, low-impact development, and LEED accreditation and integrating sustainable practices into projects to promote environmental conservation, energy efficiency, and resilience.
In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor's degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship). Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor's degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) must include experience with all of the following:
(1) ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Grasshopper, 2D and 3D Software including AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and Bluebeam Revu;
(2) Parametric design application to master planning projects as well as conceptual and schematics design for architecture and urban design projects;
(3) Building codes, standards, zoning, and land use planning for residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, critical facilities campuses, airport and airport cities master plans, sports-anchored campus master plans, and mixed-use developments;
(4) Physical design practices including site planning and programming, building layout, development yields, massing, materials and conceptual architectural design;
(5) Lighting, Façade, Acoustics, AV, mobility, transportation, landscape, civil and marine engineers, and other consultants' coordination requirements; AND

All experience may be acquired concurrently. Incidental telecommuting may apply. Standard benefits will be offered, and employees will be eligible for bonuses.
The base salary range is $85,800.00 to $86,000.00, commensurate with relevant experience.
