Job description

Duties: Under the supervision of the Information Security Supervisor, the Information Technology Intern is responsible for the following:

  • Participate in AI design and training.
  • Participate in compliance testing and remediation.
  • Participate in network analysis and securing networks.
  • Participate in system auditing and testing.
  • As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
  • All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team building activities, as assigned.
  • Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; support all aspects of the District's safety program.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Education: Current high school or college undergraduate student (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026). This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and college undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.

Experience: Previous experience with information technology is preferred.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite and the Windows operating system.
  • An interest in computer and network security.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Linux and MacOS operating systems; security testing tools, methodologies, and documentation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
