What are some common challenges Intermountain RNs encounter when working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team?

Intermountain RNs often collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, which can present challenges such as coordinating care plans, managing differing opinions, and ensuring clear communication among team members. Balancing patient advocacy with team consensus is essential, especially in fast-paced environments. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills help RNs navigate these situations, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intermountain RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intermountain RN, you need a valid RN license, strong clinical assessment skills, and a solid understanding of evidence-based nursing practices. Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records, medical devices, and adherence to Intermountain Healthcare protocols are typically required. Outstanding communication, teamwork, and adaptability help nurses provide compassionate care and coordinate effectively with interdisciplinary teams. These skills ensure high-quality patient outcomes, safety, and efficient operation within Intermountain Healthcare's fast-paced clinical environments.

What are Intermountain RNs?

Intermountain RNs are registered nurses who work for Intermountain Health, a large not-for-profit healthcare system in the western United States. These nurses provide patient care in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and specialty care centers. They are responsible for assessing patient needs, administering treatments and medications, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care. Intermountain RNs must hold an active RN license and often participate in ongoing training and professional development. Their roles may vary depending on the department or specialty in which they work.
