The Operations Manager will be the lead operations position and is responsible for providing contingency backup for all positions and being the primary trainer for the team. This position requires excellent communication skills and desire to consistently achieve a high level of service, data accuracy, productivity, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilities training for operations team members to include new hires, team cross-training, inter-departmental training, and other training as required
  • Maintains SOPs for all customers and functions within the team
  • Provides direct support and problem resolution to the team on day-to-day issues involving service, expense, and data integrity
  • Assists Terminal Manager in controlling all operations-related costs by daily reviewing any pertinent operations finance reports and dashboards to minimize cost exposure to customers, carriers, and the company
  • Support other departments in resolving operations-related issues to include payables, receivables, collections
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics 
  • Manage relationships with customers and vendors 
  • Acts as primary backup covering vacancies for all positions on assigned team
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations 
  • Manage office time off/vacation schedules 
  • Monitor container arrivals, releases and last free days 
  • Assist Field Safety on expirations and with orientations 
  • Communicate with contractor applicants and provide them with necessary information 
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ experience in intermodal transportation; management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, or Business preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Team-player mindset and willingness to collaborate
