Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with after-hours engagement as needed
Pay: Hourly rate commensurate with experience

Join Our Team

Dunavant Sea Lane Express, LLC (DSLX) is seeking an experienced Intermodal Dispatcher to join our Nashville operations team. This position plays a critical role in coordinating daily dispatch activities, supporting drivers, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maximizing operational efficiency across our intermodal transportation network.

The ideal candidate will have prior intermodal dispatch experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced transportation environment.

What You'll Do

As an Intermodal Dispatcher, you will:

  • Coordinate daily dispatch operations for drivers and customer deliveries.
  • Schedule and pre-dispatch loads for early morning deliveries.
  • Dispatch drivers to and from container yards.
  • Monitor container free-time and return dates to prevent detention and chargeback costs.
  • Ensure containers are delivered according to customer requirements and schedules.
  • Perform container and chassis inspections as equipment enters and leaves the yard.
  • Conduct yard checks and manage container inventory within the yard.
  • Identify and resolve yard-related operational issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance needs and communicate repair requirements with the Maintenance & Repair team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and operational support.
  • Assist with driver recruitment and retention efforts while maintaining balanced work distribution.
  • Enter and maintain operational data in transportation and business systems, including TMW and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Experience
  • Prior intermodal dispatch experience is required.
  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or
  • Six months to one year of related transportation, logistics, dispatch, or customer service experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to interpret schedules, route information, and operational data.
  • Working knowledge of 24-hour time systems and transportation scheduling.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based position.
  • Frequent use of computer systems and dispatch software.
  • Regular walking throughout the terminal and yard environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and stressful situations with professionalism.
