Job Title: Civil/Structural Engineer for Nuclear Facilities

The Civil/Structural Engineer will deliver engineering design and analysis for nuclear facilities, where you will prepare comprehensive engineering work packages while ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules. This role requires defining project requirements in terms of scope, cost, and schedule, and developing or reviewing civil/structural deliverables such as design basis documents, structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, datasheets, and foundation, embedment, anchorage, and pipe/equipment support designs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil/structural engineering design and analysis for nuclear facilities, including safety-related and non-safety-related structures.
• Prepare engineering work packages ensuring budgets and schedules are met.
• Define civil/structural project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule.
• Develop and/or review civil/structural deliverables such as design basis documents, structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, datasheets, and foundation, embedment, anchorage, and pipe/equipment support designs.
• Utilize codes and standards in regulated environments, including CSA, ACI, AISC, ASCE.
• Perform seismic analysis and qualification of structures, systems, and components.
• Support refurbishment and life-extension scopes, including structural condition assessments and concrete aging management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, seismic, geotechnical, and construction.
• Provide technical oversight, checking, and mentoring of junior and intermediate engineers.
• Provide input to engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates.
• Actively manage relationships with clients and vendors.

Essential Skills

• Strong civil/structural fundamentals with analysis, including steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
• Professional Engineering designation or E.I.T required.
• Minimum 5 years of project experience in the nuclear sector.
• Ability to pass Nuclear Clearance.
• US-based work requires meeting Export Controls Requirements.
• Proficiency in civil/structural analysis software such as ANSYS and STAADPRO.
• Experience in developing seismic spectra and seismic margin assessment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in structural steel and concrete design.
• Understanding of seismic requirements and building design aligning to code requirements.

Work Environment

The role requires in-office presence 5 days a week, though remote work options are available for consultants. The team includes 4-5 SMEs and an additional 10-15 personnel supporting nuclear work. Additionally, we have a large design services group available for support. The position entails 40 hours of work per week

This is a Contract position based out of Mississauga, ON.

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $88.00/hr.
