Job description

Structural Engineer / Designer (Institutional & Public Sector)

Location: Greater Toronto Area (West End)
Work Model: Primarily In-Office (Limited Hybrid Flexibility)
Compensation: $80,000 โ€“ $90,000 + Bonus + Full Benefits + RRSP Matching

About the Opportunity

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is partnered with a well-established boutique structural engineering consultancy in the GTA that specializes in institutional and public sector projects. With a strong and stable pipeline driven by long-term partnerships across education, government, and infrastructure sectors, this firm offers consistent project flow and long-term career stability.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer or Designer who enjoys working in a collaborative, tight-knit environment and wants exposure to the full lifecycle of projectsโ€”from site investigations through to project closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Project Lifecycle Ownership:
Manage projects from initial site visits and assessments through design, tendering, contract administration, and final closeout documentation
  • Structural Design & Analysis:
Prepare and review structural designs for institutional and public-sector buildings using industry-standard tools
  • Technical Documentation:
Develop clear, concise engineering reports and supporting documentation for public and institutional clients
  • Team & Consultant Coordination:
Collaborate with internal structural team members and coordinate with external sub-consultants (MEP and others)
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication:
Act as a key technical point of contact, ensuring project requirements, timelines, and deliverables are met
  • Field Reviews & Site Work:
Conduct site inspections and field reviews across the GTA as part of project execution

Qualifications

  • Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensure:
Registered as an EIT with Professional Engineers Ontario and actively working toward P.Eng designation
  • Experience:
3โ€“6 years of experience in structural building design
Experience in institutional, telecom, or public-sector projects is highly preferred
  • Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, S-Frame, and Bluebeam
  • Soft Skills:
Strong communication and report-writing abilities, with a client-facing mindset
  • Logistics:
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for site visits within the GTA

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Stable Project Pipeline:
Focus on institutional and public-sector workโ€”less exposure to market volatility
  • Comprehensive Benefits:
Employer-paid health and dental coverage from day one
  • Financial Growth:
Competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and RRSP matching
  • Career Development:
Opportunity to take ownership of projects early and grow toward full professional designation
  • Collaborative Environment:
Join a close-knit structural team that values autonomy, accountability, and technical excellence
