Job description

Job DescriptionOverview

In Canada, our Bridge department has offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Quebec City. AtkinsRealis also has a large international presence with over 700 bridge professionals globally, and involvement in some of the most complex structures in the world. The Bridges Department - Central Region, is looking for a Structural Engineer (Bridges) for our team in Ontario. Reporting to the Manager, Bridges - Central Region, the engineer will be responsible for carrying out project management and structural lead in the field of bridges and structural engineering projects. This will include the development, analysis, design, evaluation, inspection, and execution of various projects.

Your role
  • Lead a structural design Team for a variety of projects.
  • Applying advanced engineering techniques and tools for solution of complex engineering challenges.
  • Directing, coaching, supporting and guiding employees (engineers and technicians) assigned to projects.
  • Advise management and collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Preparation of proposals and participation in business development including publications and conferences.
  • Preparing structural designs and evaluations, and contract packages for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) with key Clients (MTO, Metrolinx, Municipalities and TTC), including current Ministry policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and manuals.
  • Experience with reviewing condition survey reports and making recommendations for rehabilitation strategy.
About you
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a structural major). Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with PEO.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering practice in analysis and design of various types of bridge and transportation structures; railway structures is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety of complexity, type of bridge, size and scope.
  • Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Code.
  • Proficient in SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS, Staad Pro, ETABS, Bentley ProjectWise and Microsoft Office applications.
