Job Description

The Product Engineer collaborates with Corporate Purchasing, Engineering Leadership, Operations, and Product Management to scope, recommend changes, and ultimately implement changes through Cabinetworks Group Operations. In addition, the product engineer is responsible for creating SOPs, process improvement, training for department, troubleshooting and special project work as required.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate on multi-functional teams in support of New Product Development projects including the use of task / timeline management tools, project status meetings, and meeting minutes
  • Develop and manage project timelines for projects originating from the Value Analysis - Value Engineering Management system, coordinate team meetings
  • Coordinate product samples/testing, and update Engineering drawings and specifications as required
  • Lead projects targeting product cost reductions, product quality improvements, and inventory reduction activities using project management skills
  • Use product engineering automation systems to develop the CAD models, drawings, and bills of material for existing product maintenance
  • Work to improve processes used within the Product Engineering area of responsibility

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software
  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Demonstrated successful ability to prioritize and multi-task various and conflicting responsibilities
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal customers
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, information systems, or related field
  • Prior SQL or equivalent query writing experience
  • AutoCAD, Solid Works, or other 3D CAD software experience
  • Familiarity with the cabinet industry or furniture industry products
  • Prior PDM/PLM experience (PTC Windchill or similar)
