Job description

Description:

Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding is seeking a designer or draftsperson to join our team. Job responsibilities include design of hull and deck structures and interior joinery for construction in wood and composites, and bespoke metal components. The work includes refits of existing boats as well as new, one-off and semi-production designs. The applicant will produce models and renderings throughout the design phase, interface with customers, and production managers, perform weight and material estimates, and produce final shop drawings. Good interpersonal and communication skills are paramount.

Job responsibilities include performing site visits and taking accurate measurements of proposed projects for design, and assisting with quality control of projects in process.

Requirements:
  • CAD experience
  • Rhino
  • AutoCAD
  • SolidWorks
  • Proficiency with software including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Engineering education and/or experience and
  • Knowledge of boating and yacht regulations and methods of construction
  • Composite laminating techniques, industrial metal fabrication, and understanding of welding and welding symbols a plus.
