Overview

PDO is an award-winning interior design and planning firm with a full-time opportunity in our Scottsdale office for an energetic, driven and creative Interior Designer. This individual should have excellent AutoCAD skills and some experience in the commercial interior design sector. In this position, you will collaborate with and be an integral part of the interior design team, supporting both development of interior design efforts and implementation of that vision.

The ideal individual would be building a proven record of client development, winning projects and successfully executing from design to construction while continuing to work with clients on the next effort.

Responsibilities

1. Works with Interior Design teams to develop leading edge, innovative interior design solutions

2. Enthusiastically works with clients and design team to interpret and evaluate client requirements for successful project design

3. Exhibits a passion for design and innovation and thought leadership with regard to workplace strategy

4. Research concepts and materials to advise and support design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development

5. Collaborates and communicates effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary team members

6. Provides consistent AutoCAD support including inputting, redlines, space planning, schematic design and beyond

7. Performs site visits and as-builts with senior supervision

8. Reviews material submittals and conducts on-site observations

9. Ability to participate and contribute to interview preparation, marketing efforts and general events that help grow / positively position the business

10. Excellent problem-solving abilities - creative approach to solutions that greatly improves or negates undesirable circumstances

11. Ability to effectively yet creatively sell design concepts, creating confidence in clients that resonates through the duration of the project, informing efficient decision making that delivers on time, on budget

12. Ability to lead and advise on programming efforts, amending targeted questions, surveys and drafting conclusive results as appropriate

13. Ability to advise intelligently on the implementation of design concepts and application of materials regarding aesthetics, maintenance, lifecycle, and costs

14. Ability to review shop drawing submittals related to the interior and advises as appropriate

15. Ability to collaborate, advise and direct consultants appropriately to ensure success of the project from a design perspective as well as budget and schedule


Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Excellent AutoCAD skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent communication and follow through skills
  • Excellent design skills and possesses attention to detail and appreciation for creative and thoughtful design
  • Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree from an accredited Interior Design or Architecture program required
  • Highly creative skills and have 1-3 years of commercial interiors experience
  • Experience with space planning, design detailing, finish and furniture selections, and construction documentation
  • Technical skills including 3D visualization and knowledge of modeling programs a plus
  • NCIDQ certification a plus
  • LEED and WELL certification a plus
  • Revit skills a plus
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Self starter, consistently meets deadlines with great accuracy
