Job description

Interior Designer – Luxury Residential

At DC Structures, we design and build architecturally distinctive custom homes, legacy estates, barns, barndominiums, wineries, and lifestyle properties throughout the Western United States. Every project is unique, and every client expects an exceptional level of design, craftsmanship, and service.

We're looking for an experienced Interior Designer who thrives at the intersection of luxury residential design, architecture, visualization, and construction.

This is not a traditional interior design position.

You'll help shape the complete client experience—from discovery and design development through 3D modeling, visualization, finish selections, construction documentation, and construction collaboration. You'll work alongside our architectural, structural, estimating, purchasing, and construction teams to create homes that are timeless, functional, and beautifully executed.

The ideal candidate combines exceptional design instincts with outstanding technical ability. You're equally comfortable leading a client presentation, producing photorealistic renderings, developing custom cabinetry, and delivering highly coordinated construction documents.

What You'll Do

  • Lead client discovery meetings to understand lifestyle, project goals, aesthetic preferences, budget, and investment priorities.
  • Present design concepts, renderings, finish selections, and technical solutions with confidence and professionalism.
  • Guide clients through material selections while balancing aesthetics, performance, constructability, and budget.
  • Develop luxury interior concepts, mood boards, finish palettes, and presentation materials.
  • Design custom kitchens, bathrooms, pantries, mudrooms, wine rooms, wellness spaces, entertainment areas, closets, and specialty millwork.
  • Improve floor plans, circulation, functionality, storage, and overall livability.
  • Specify luxury cabinetry, appliances, plumbing fixtures, lighting, flooring, tile, stone, countertops, hardware, paint, and specialty finishes.
  • Produce highly detailed 3D models and presentation-quality renderings.
  • Create complete construction-ready drawing packages, finish schedules, specifications, and interior detailing.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, structural designers, engineers, estimators, purchasing, project managers, field teams, vendors, and consultants.
  • Review shop drawings and product submittals, conduct site visits as needed, and help ensure the design intent is executed accurately.
  • Help improve internal design standards, workflows, and client presentation processes.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in luxury residential interior design, architectural interiors, or design-build environments.
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating high-end residential design and visual storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of architecture, spatial planning, residential construction methods, and interior detailing.
  • Experience designing custom cabinetry, millwork, kitchens, bathrooms, and other luxury residential spaces.
  • Experience producing construction-ready documentation and finish schedules.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Passion for design excellence, innovation, technology, and creating remarkable client experiences.

Software Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate professional proficiency in one of the following:

Preferred

  • Revit
  • Enscape

OR

  • Chief Architect Premier

Candidates should be capable of producing detailed BIM models, construction documentation, cabinetry drawings, finish schedules, and presentation-quality renderings using their primary platform.

Experience with Lumion, Twinmotion, D5 Render, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or AI-assisted visualization tools is a plus.

Why DC Structures?

You'll work on some of the most distinctive custom residential projects in the Western United States alongside architects, engineers, builders, and craftspeople in a collaborative design-build environment.

We're building more than beautiful homes—we're building one of the premier luxury design-build firms in the country.
