DESIGN ASSISTANT | FULL-TIME | NAPERVILLE, IL

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Desa Design Studio is a full-service interior design firm specializing in high-end residential and boutique commercial interiors. We create spaces that are both beautiful and highly functional, with a strong emphasis on thoughtful design, client collaboration, and attention to detail.

Our projects span the full design process—from concept development and 3D modeling to finish and furnishing selections, construction documentation, procurement, and installation. As a smaller design studio, our team works collaboratively, giving each team member hands-on exposure to many aspects of the design process.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Desa Design Studio is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Design Assistant to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging interior design professional who wants hands-on experience and exposure to projects from concept through completion. The Design Assistant will work closely with the Principal Designer and design team, providing support throughout the design process.

This is primarily an in-office position in Naperville, IL, with occasional work-from-home flexibility. The position will also include client meetings, site visits, vendor appointments, and installations as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with space planning and furniture layouts

• Source furniture, lighting, materials, finishes, and accessories

• Assist with SketchUp models and design presentations

• Gather and organize product specifications, selections, and samples

• Enter and maintain project selections within Studio Designer

• Request pricing, samples, and product information from vendors

• Assist with preparation for client presentations and meetings

• Maintain organized project documentation and design resources

• Attend site visits and assist with field measurements as needed

• Assist with project installations and final styling

• Provide day-to-day design support to the Principal Designer and design team

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Interior Design from an accredited college or university

• 1–3 years of professional interior design experience preferred

Proficiency in SketchUp required

• Ability to read and understand floor plans and elevations

• Familiarity with Studio Designer is a plus

• Strong eye for design, scale, proportion, materials, and detail

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Self-motivated, resourceful, collaborative, and eager to learn and grow
