We are seeking a Professional Student to support the Design Team in the development of architectural or engineering designs and construction documents using 2D and 3D software. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside architects, engineers and designers, while gaining exposure to building codes, zoning regulations, design coordination, and construction documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing technical and professional skills within a collaborative architectural environment.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • The student will use 2D and 3D software to assist the Design Team in the development of designs and drafting construction documents in support of clients' building program. All under the direct supervision of HFA full-time staff designers, Team Leads and Client Leads.
  • Student should utilize education and experience to independently tackle challenges as they arise on projects with the support of Design Team lead.
  • Student shall gain experience evaluating client requirements, building code, and zoning regulations to develop design recommendations.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Produce accurate construction documents detailing the clients vision and goals
  • Document and analyze existing building conditions to produce as-built documents and reports
  • Conduct building code analysis and research regulatory requirements to determine design constraints
  • Develop design options and alternates
  • Coordinate building components and systems with other disciplines to develop construction documents based on the clients requirements
  • Student shall perform quality control of their own work prior to giving to immediate supervisor

Education Requirements: Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in engineering, architecture or Interior Design or an Architectural Studies degree preferred, but not required.

Program Requirements:
  • HFA's internship program requires an 8-week commitment from interns to be in our Bentonville, Arkansas studio Monday through Friday during regular working hours (8am to 5pm).
  • Internship participants must be within 18 months of college graduation.
