Senior Architectural Associate
Position Summary
  • Contribute to the design and planning of new construction, expansions, renovations, and conversion projects across commercial, retail, hospitality, industrial, and residential sectors
  • Support the delivery of high-quality design, planning, and technical solutions that meet client expectations and project objectives
  • Collaborate with project managers, consultants, engineers, architects, and clients throughout all phases of design and development
  • Assist in the preparation of conceptual layouts, floor plans, elevations, detailing, and construction documentation
  • Help ensure design consistency, functionality, and compliance with project standards and industry regulations
  • Provide ongoing support to project teams and contribute to the successful execution of multiple projects simultaneously
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain organized project drawing files in both digital and hard-copy formats
  • Support the development and maintenance of design and drafting standards
  • Conduct site visits and site measurements, including documenting and updating as-built conditions
  • Prepare and revise drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT
  • Assist with project coordination, consultant communication, and documentation management
  • Participate in planning meetings and project discussions as required
  • Maintain equipment and specification libraries, ensuring information is current and organized
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential issues or areas for improvement
  • Assist with construction administration and tender documentation
  • Ensure assigned tasks, reports, timesheets, and project deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve project efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Support and mentor junior and intermediate design staff when required
  • Stay informed of municipal regulations, building codes, and industry best practices that may impact project execution
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of municipal by-laws, building codes, construction methods, and detailing
  • Experience producing conceptual layouts, plans, elevations, and site plans
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, surveys, and technical drawings

  • Experience in contract administration and construction documentation
  • Familiarity with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings
  • Understanding of tendering processes and construction contract documentation
  • Ability to lead projects independently and coordinate external consultants
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • High level of knowledge of the design and construction industry

Working Conditions

Education & Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Interior Design, or a related field
  • Approximately 6–8 years of experience within an architectural, design, or construction environment
  • Formal training and strong proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT
  • Experience in commercial and retail project environments is considered an asset
