As CREATE. continues to evolve and grow, we are looking for an experienced Site Superintendent. This is a role that is responsible for overseeing all trades and managing onsite activities.

Day to day responsibilities of the Site Superintendent include:

  • Working closely with the Project Manager, assist in the preparation of the project schedule; execute at site level
  • Contact, schedule and coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers and utilities
  • Proactively monitor procurement schedule to ensure timely delivery within project requirements.
  • Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures, and potential constructability challenges while providing solutions to these challenges
  • Produce and maintain 3-week look aheads
  • Review, accept, and manage the general conditions budget
  • Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements
  • Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings
  • Identify any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant’s design drawings or onsite conditions
  • Initiate, activate and maintain a site-specific safety program for the project with CREATE’s safety consultant
  • Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of the Construction Management Group’s directly owned equipment and assets
  • Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses and assist in the monthly cost forecasting
  • Ensure Issue for Construction drawings are on site (most recent / current)
  • Ensure that “as-built” drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period
  • Coordinate all required municipal inspections and obtain full and final permit sign off on site
  • Prepare and expedite completion of all project deficiencies
  • Provide regular video or photo updates 
  • Work on the tools and do manual labour as needed

What we’re looking for on the resume:

  • Minimum five (5) year’s experience as a Site Superintendent/Supervisor on commercial construction projects. Interior improvements and ground up build experience is an asset
  • College / University degree or trade certification in a construction related field would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel, and Autodesk Build
  • Proficiency with Teams, Facetime, and/or Zoom
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Up to date Safety Certificates

In the interview process we’ll be looking for:

  • Understanding of construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.)
  • Strong understanding and belief in the OHSA & practice
  • Confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with team/client as well as effectively lead the trades
  • Ability to break down problems & manage conflict by effectively dealing with issues in a professional manner
  • Able to proactively seek solutions and escalate issues when needed
  • A willingness to take feedback and grow (not wilt)
  • The ability to be a pro-active self-starter with the ability to think ahead and plan work accordingly
