Job Description:

Job Summary:

Skywise is a leading digital services company, wholly owned by Airbus. We deliver a first-of-its-kind offer that seamlessly integrates Planning & Operations Control, Flight, Technical, and Ground Operations. By providing interoperable digital solutions for end-to-end operations, Skywise combines aircraft manufacturer expertise and digital know-how to transform operational complexity into predictable and profitable performance, ensuring resilient and more sustainable operations.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer, Intelligent Automation & AI Orchestration to join our team and accelerate the evolution of our Software Factory. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between traditional full-stack engineering and the next generation of AI-assisted development.

You will leverage your deep understanding of frontend and backend architectures to guide our team in automating pipelines, integrating AI coding agents, and establishing intelligent merge criteria. You will be the technical anchor who decides when to apply simple, deterministic automation and when to unlock the power of LLMs and agentic workflows to solve complex problems in a cloud-native, microservices-based environment.

Responsibilities:

As a leader in our Software Factory, you will balance foundational full-stack reliability with cutting-edge automation. Your main duties will include:

  • Intelligent Pipeline Orchestration: Help design, build, and maintain advanced CI/CD pipelines. Implement automated Merge Request (MR) checks that leverage both deterministic logic and AI agents to enforce code quality, security, and architectural standards.

  • Strategic AI Integration: Evaluate and determine the right tool for the job-knowing exactly when to use simple scripts or algorithms versus when to build agentic workflows and leverage LLMs.

  • AI Tooling & Developer Experience: Help lead the integration of AI coding assistants and generative AI tools into the team's daily development lifecycle, streamlining workflows and boosting the tribe's overall productivity.

  • Full-Stack Architecture & Development: Utilize your deep .NET (C#) and modern UI (Vue.js) expertise to extend existing infrastructures. You will maintain a hands-on approach to ensure our AI and automation solutions integrate seamlessly with robust backend logic and intuitive UIs.

  • Technical Direction & Mentorship: Act as a domain expert for AI and automation. Supervise and guide team members on prompt engineering, working with AI agents, and transitioning toward an AI-augmented development mindset.

  • Continuous Improvement: Propose and lead "chapter" initiatives to achieve business goals. Influence future tech stacks by identifying bottlenecks in the Software Factory and architecting intelligent solutions to eliminate them.

  • Agile Advocacy: Actively participate in our SAFe process, guiding others in agile development concepts and leading the adoption of continual improvement.

Must-Haves:

We are looking for a highly versatile engineer who combines a traditional full-stack background with a passion for AI orchestration and developer automation.

  • Professional Experience: 8+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record in both Front End (Vue.js, TypeScript) and Back End (.NET / C#) environments.

  • Applied AI & Agentic Workflows: Practical experience working with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) and knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen). A strong conceptual understanding of how to build tools that allow AI agents to interact with existing APIs and codebases.

  • Advanced Automation & DevOps: Deep expertise in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and containerization (Docker). Proven ability to build custom automation, hooks, and scripts to govern code integration. Experience with CloudFormation IaC or similar.

  • Architectural Discernment: Highly analytical problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to choose between traditional programmatic solutions and AI-driven approaches based on efficiency, cost, and reliability.

  • Backend & API: Hands-on experience with ASP.NET Web API, Entity Framework, and maintaining both microservices and monolithic architectures within AWS (or other major cloud providers).

  • Frontend Depth: Experience in building SPA and Micro-frontend solutions from the ground up, using modern HTML/CSS (SASS).

  • Quality & Testing: Strong commitment to software reliability. Experience orchestrating automated Unit, Component, and Functional testing within deployment pipelines.

  • Communication: Strong technical communication skills in English (written and spoken), with the ability to demystify complex AI concepts for various audiences.

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have:
  • Python & Data Tooling: Strong proficiency in Python, combined with an understanding of vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.

  • Advanced Testing methodologies: Deep expertise in automated functional tests and non-functional testing methodologies. ISTQB certification or demonstrable knowledge of ISTQB best practices.

  • Aviation Domain: Understanding of airline operations, flight planning, or air navigation principles. A genuine passion for the aviation industry is a huge plus!

  • Process & Methodology: Practical knowledge of agile development concepts and experience working within the SAFe process.
