WHAT YOU GET TO DO

The RBS Health & Safety Coordinator will oversee and enhance the safety practices of our warehouse maintenance team. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, minimizing risk, and fostering a culture of safety across all maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial safety, maintenance procedures, ISO standards, and team leadership.

As the RBS Health & Safety Coordinator, you will lead the development and implementation of Knapp Inc. (KUS)’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) culture and systems at site level. You will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and continuously improving the OHS Management System in alignment with ISO 45001:2018 and OSHA standards. This position oversees safety operations ensuring the safety of all personnel within a dynamic warehouse environment that includes automated conveyor systems and Order Storage and Retrieval (OSR) technology.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead safety briefings and toolbox talks for the maintenance team.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters at the site.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Implement and maintain the ISO 45001:2018-compliant OHS Management System at the site level.
  • Support the maintenance team, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the corporate Safety Compliance department to align site practices with Knapp standards.
  • Update and maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation in compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. (e.g. ,SOPs, RAs, MOP’s, and incident reports)
  • Responsible for maintaining records in accordance with OSHA 29CFR 1904 and HIPA.
  • Manage worker’s comp and the return-to-work program at site level.
  • Recommend, document, and monitor safety equipment and training programs.

Compliance, Auditing & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of maintenance operations, equipment, and work areas.
  • Develop and maintain audit schedules, checklists, and documentation aligned with OSHA, ISO 45001, and company standards.
  • Support internal audits and external audits related to ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Ensure non-conformance tracking, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Collaborate with quality and compliance teams to align safety practices with broader management systems.
  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure timely closure of audit findings with proper documentation.

Incident Response & Investigation

  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and equipment failures.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.

Training & Maintenance

  • Responsible for continuous improvement and training to ensure compliance with all legal requirements pertaining to OHS and ISO 45001.
  • Provide training programs for all OH&S topics, including actions and process(es) needed to determine and address risks and opportunities to the extent necessary to have confidence that they are carried out as planned.
  • Track and ensure completion of required certifications and refresher courses.
  • Support onboarding of new maintenance staff and visitors with safety induction.
  • Obtain Competent Person status in key safety areas such as Fall Protection, PIT, MEWP, WAVe, and others as needed.

Internal Systems

  • Ensure the integration of the OH&SMS requirements into KUS business systems.
  • Oversee the Safety Portal and all supporting documentation for the site.

Communication

  • Work closely with all RBS operations and Safety Compliance teams.
  • Participate in cross-functional safety committees and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the RBS Director and Safety Compliance department.
  • Continually demonstrate ability to raise awareness of the health and safety processes to KUS employees and other interested parties.

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Degree in Occupational Safety or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety role within an industrial, logistics, or warehouse environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and maintenance safety protocols.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, and reporting tools
  • Experienced in safety management software and digital documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and rapport building.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA 501, OSHA 511) is highly desirable.
  • Must have/obtain OSHA 30 General Industry.
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor Certification – preferred/obtain
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification – a plus

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Overtime (occasional) as required by work
  • Travel may be required up to 20%
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Physical requirements may include sitting for longer periods of time, walking, speaking, reading, reaching at arm’s length, occasional squatting, lifting of no more than 50 pounds
