POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Manager Business Intelligence, you will be an integral part of the central Business Intelligence and Data Management team that provides data, insights and reporting across Progress and its affiliated organizations. In this role, you will manage a team of BI analysts involved with creating and executing the next generation of reports, dashboards, and analytical approaches to assess the performance of our organization and using these insights to drive actionable outcomes across the organization. The role will also perform deep dive research to answer business critical questions posed by senior leaders to understand the latest trends across the SFR industry, competitors, and customers. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the data and analytics journey at one of the largest owners and operators of single-family rental properties across the US.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manages People & Projects Independently:

  • Plans and allocates resources effectively to meet project demand; independently manages all team projects from infancy to end-state on time and to stakeholder expectations.

  • Coaches, mentors, and develops a team of Analysts; embraces a people-first culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention, and high performance.

  • Work collaboratively with other team managers in BI team and also with Analytics team and stakeholders.

Drives Performance:

  • Work cross-functionally as needed to enable data architecture and solutions that best meet the analytics and reporting needs of the business.

  • Takes a hands-on approach with the team: uncovers patterns and accurately interprets operational and financial performance results.

  • Coaches the team toward building compelling stories: Guides individual contributor's findings into a well-thought presentation with specific, actionable proposals on SFR strategies and solutions.

Drives BI innovation and supports change:

  • Develops new approaches to problem-solving at Progress, driving improvements in the quality, efficiency & rigor of insights delivered to the business; uses findings to guide change.

  • Improves the way we define, measure, track, and govern KPIs and their supporting data.

Creates strong relationships with the business:

  • Establishes a professional and trusting relationship with stakeholders.

  • In conjunction with direct reports, leverages consultative selling skills to meet independently with Progress leadership, understand strategic priorities and business needs, and advise on analytical options to address challenges discussed.

  • Identify and communicate key insight behind reports and analyses to the leadership team based on reports and analysis.

  • Work cross functionally to identify and implement any enhancements to reporting and analytics processes proactively and systematically.

Involves with all things related to Data from acquisition to visualization:

  • Gather complex data inputs from multiple sources, both internally and externally. Identify new data sources that will enhance business outcomes and support strategic and tactical objectives. Provide insights on trends and drivers behind the results and prepare reports on findings.

  • Use modern visualization tools such as Looker to enhance business understanding through artistic, simple, and concise data story telling.

  • Complete complex ad-hoc research, analysis, and reporting in the responsible functional areas of the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in. Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years' experience mining data in analytics and developing reporting using a variety of reporting/analytics software packages with an aptitude for learning new reporting software packages

  • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of analytical concepts and techniques including cost-benefit analysis, sensitivity analysis, performance metrics and scoring

  • Expertise with BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, Tableau

  • Expertise with SQL querying language

  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively and develop new solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities & deliverables in a fast-paced, dead-line oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in economics, Industrial Engineering, MIS or Business

  • 2+ years of experience utilizing statistical software such as R, Python, etc.

  • 2+ years of managing teams of BI analysts or Data Analysts preferred

  • Snowflake experience is a plus

  • Experience with:

    • Salesforce & Yardi software applications

    • Data quality technology (e.g. Talend, Informatica, Monte Carlo)

    • Data Governance

    • Statistical methods

    • Six Sigma and Lean practices
