Job description

Direct Counsel is representing a prestigious AmLaw firm seeking a midlevel Intellectual Property Associate (1–5 years) to join its highly regarded Life Sciences Patent Prosecution practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney or patent agent with a strong scientific background and biotechnology patent prosecution experience to work with cutting-edge life sciences and emerging growth companies.

Responsibilities
  • Handle sophisticated patent prosecution and IP counseling matters for innovative life sciences companies
  • Advise clients in areas including:
    • Antibodies
    • DNA & RNA therapeutics
    • Gene-editing technologies
    • Chemical biology
    • Molecular and cellular therapeutics
  • Collaborate closely with emerging companies and scientific innovators on strategic intellectual property protection
Qualifications
  • 1–5 years of biotechnology patent prosecution experience
  • Advanced degree required, preferably a Ph.D., in a life sciences discipline such as:
    • Molecular Biology
    • Immunology
    • Biochemistry
    • Cell Biology
    • Related scientific fields
  • USPTO Registration Number / Patent Bar membership required
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
Compensation

Expected salary range in Massachusetts: $225,000 – $435,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and market factors.
