Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney (Technical / Engineering Focus)

Direct Counsel is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney (Technical / Engineering Focus) to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Irvine (Orange County), Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Seattle, Silicon Valley (Menlo Park), or Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 2-4 years of intellectual property litigation experience to join a nationally recognized Intellectual Property practice. The team represents leading innovators in high-stakes patent and trade secret litigation involving cutting-edge technologies across a wide range of industries.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in patent and trade secret litigation in federal courts and other tribunals.

  • Assist with all phases of complex intellectual property litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and appeals.

  • Conduct sophisticated legal and technical research and analysis.

  • Draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other substantive litigation documents.

  • Work closely with technical experts, inventors, and corporate clients to develop litigation strategies.

  • Analyze complex technologies and intellectual property portfolios in support of litigation matters.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on high-profile IP disputes.

  • Manage multiple sophisticated matters while delivering exceptional client service.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the state bar of the office where the attorney will be located.

  • 2-4 years of intellectual property litigation experience, including patent and/or trade secret matters.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent technical experience will also be considered.

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and advocacy skills.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the initiative, work ethic, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
