Job description

Role: Material Handler II
Location: Rockford, IL - 61103
Duration: 06 Months
 

Shift: 7AM and end at 3:30 PM with a 30 min lunch
POSITION SUMMARY: Material Handler maintains incoming and outgoing product movement throughout the facility.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Follows all policies and guidelines regarding workplace safety and product quality. Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other stock items and distributes items to production areas. Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets.
Marks materials with identifying information.
Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
Uses computer to enter records.
Drives material handling equipment to transport stored items.
Loads and unloads trailers of palletized and non-palletized product.
Utilizes manual and automated material handling equipment.
Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
May perform other duties as required.
Contributes to division results and performance.
Take care of internal and external customer needs and expectations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS-FORMAL EDUCATION Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE-Required: Candidate must able to communicate effectively to team members and management staff.
Must be able to read information through warehouse computer software.
Preferred: Relevant work experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on a frequent basis.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
May work indoors and outdoors as needed.
Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
Work surfaces may include concrete.
Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
