Job Title: Dispatcher

Reports To: Operations Supervisor

Employment Type: Full-Time / Exempt

Salary Range: $70,500 - $76,000 (DOE/DOL)

Location: Woodbridge, CA

At City Rise Utility Traffic Control, we provide high-quality traffic control safety services for utility contractors, such as Flagging traffic through a work site, Lane Closures to divert traffic, or Detouring traffic to reduce traffic congestion and prevent accidents. We serve the needs of varied industries and are focused on maintaining a safe work environment for utility crews, our employees, and the public.


Position Summary:

This position reports to the Operations Manager and works in close collaboration with the broader Operations & Sales Team to strategically plan, coordinate, and schedule daily traffic control jobs. A key responsibility of this role is to ensure that all job orders are accurately scheduled, traffic control personnel are strategically assigned based on job needs, skillset and location, and all customers receive a timely, professional service. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail and consistently reviews and verifies their work to maintain accuracy and scheduling integrity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming calls, voicemails, and emails promptly and professionally.
  • Accurately record and input job orders received via phone or email into the dispatch scheduling system.
  • Schedule and dispatch traffic control employees based on experience, jobsite requirements, location, and employee utilization metrics.
  • Conduct jobsite assessments to determine job classification and resource requirements.
  • Review traffic control plans and permits to ensure accurate crew deployment.
  • Monitor active jobsites; follow up as needed to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Department on jobsite equipment needs and requirements. Follow up to confirm fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to ensure a positive customer experience. 
  • Communicate specific customer requirements and or jobsite to traffic control employees to ensure alignment and readiness.
  • Reconcile scheduled job orders daily to maintain accuracy and accountability.
  • Communicate all updates or changes to the dispatch schedule with the broader operations team.
  • Enforce all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Ensure all scheduling practices adhere to applicable union contract language.
  • Utilize internal systems and software platforms to manage jobs, track equipment, and streamline scheduling.
  • Review operational reports and metrics to ensure departmental performance meets or exceeds key KPIs.
  • Provide after-hours dispatch coverage on a rotating or assigned basis.
  • Motivate team members and support a positive, performance-driven culture.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a dispatch scheduling role or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in traffic control or a closely related industry preferred.
  • Experience interpreting and working with traffic control plans is preferred.
  • ATSSA TCT (Traffic Control Technician), TCS (Traffic Control Supervisor) certifications preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Telematics platforms, Salesforce, and related scheduling software.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proven problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to remain calm, pleasant, and customer-focused under pressure.
  • Positive attitude and resilience in the face of challenges or change.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-demand setting.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and respond to emergency dispatch needs as required.
  • Familiarity with leveraging data and reports to make informed strategic scheduling decisions.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Valid California Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record required.
