What are integrations in the context of a business or technology environment?

Integrations refer to the process of connecting different software applications, systems, or platforms so they can work together seamlessly. This often involves transferring data between systems, automating workflows, and ensuring that information is consistent and accessible across different tools. Integrations help organizations improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and provide a unified user experience. Common examples include connecting a CRM with an email marketing tool or syncing data between an e-commerce platform and inventory management software.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Integrations Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Integrations Specialist, you typically need expertise in systems integration, data mapping, API management, and a background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with integration platforms (like MuleSoft or Dell Boomi), REST/SOAP APIs, and relevant certifications (such as MuleSoft Certified Developer) is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills help facilitate collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability between business systems, which directly impacts operational efficiency and business outcomes.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Integrations roles, and how can they be overcome?

Professionals in Integrations roles often face challenges such as managing complex data mappings between disparate systems, ensuring data consistency, and troubleshooting connectivity or compatibility issues. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including software developers, business analysts, and IT support—is crucial for resolving these challenges efficiently. Proactive communication, strong documentation skills, and staying updated with the latest integration tools and protocols can help overcome these obstacles and ensure smooth project delivery.

Job description

Description
At Nüvitek, customer success is our Ethos; together, we drive transformational outcomes. We only succeed when our customers succeed. We partner with our customers to achieve business objectives by using our proven customer-centric, value-driven business practices and service delivery methodologies.
Nuvitek is seeking an experienced Senior Integrations Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operational continuity of mission-critical enterprise integrations supporting large-scale modernization initiatives. This role serves as the technical lead for integration delivery across multiple enterprise platforms and plays a key role in scaling platform capabilities during expansion efforts.
The Integrations Engineer will drive API strategy, event-driven architecture implementation, and production integration reliability across internal and external systems. This individual will also serve as the primary technical authority for payment-processing continuity and critical production integration workflows.
In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting Nuvitek's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.

What you will do
  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable API adapters and integration services across multiple enterprise systems and platforms.
  • Lead implementation of event-driven integration patterns and asynchronous messaging architectures to support high-volume operational workflows and system interoperability.
  • Develop and maintain reusable integration frameworks, connectors, transformation logic, and API orchestration components across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Ensure integrations comply with security, auditability, logging, and operational resiliency requirements.
  • Serve as Pod Lead for integration-focused Agile delivery teams, providing technical direction, task prioritization, mentorship, and delivery oversight.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, product owners, developers, platform teams, and stakeholders to align integration capabilities with program objectives.
  • Lead technical planning and execution activities associated with platform expansion initiatives.
  • Support release planning, deployment coordination, defect resolution, and operational readiness activities.
  • Extend and enhance enterprise payment-processing integration workflows and transaction-processing capabilities.
  • Serve as the team’s primary source of production-validated payment-processing continuity expertise.
  • Maintain operational reliability and continuity for production transaction-processing workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration failures, transaction issues, and data synchronization problems across interconnected systems.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, API monitoring, integration testing, and production support activities.
  • Implement observability, logging, alerting, and operational health metrics for integration services.
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for production integration issues.
  • Document integration patterns, interface specifications, operational procedures, and architecture decisions to ensure maintainability and audit traceability.

What you will bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise system integrations and APIs.
  • Experience developing and supporting RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong understanding of integration middleware, API gateways, message queues, and asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Experience supporting production enterprise systems and mission-critical operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or Agile delivery pods.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex cross-system integration and payment-processing workflows.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
  • Experience supporting enterprise modernization initiatives in regulated or large-scale operational environments.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise payment-processing platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native integration services and hybrid-cloud architectures.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices for enterprise applications.
  • Experience supporting workflow automation or low-code modernization platforms.
